One stared, a little surprised at the question. He got up off his knees and pondered the question. "Do you remember how in your castle a few months back. . I mentioned the Abbis and you said the Abbis were dead?" One's face gets pale, he hates talking about the extinction of his race. "As painful as it was for me to realize it, you were right. And now, I just feel that if we can't save the other Abbis, than that we could save everyone else damnit. At least we tried." One gets a little courage in his words. "And we will succeed."

Gale seems somewhat amused by One's courage. "And what makes you think they deserve to live?"

One thinks for a quick second, not eager to show his soul about it anymore, he counters. "Didn't Laena deserve to live?"

Gale was completely floored by that retort. His eyes gleam with rage and he charges at One.

One charges to Gale also. He knew Gale wasn't playing around anymore, and now One had to take him more seriously. As he's running, he takes out Shay's Staff and grips it from the bottom, he swings it outward, charging a blast that he plans to let loose once they collide.

Sin clashes with Shay's Staff, sending sparks of energy from the weapons. Gale firmly braces himself, and begins to charge energy in his other hand.

He sees that Gale is charging up an attack himself. One is still not done charging his up, he tries to race Gale with his attack, hoping he'll finish first so he could let it off.

Gale decides he best not risk One attacking first and jumps backwards, putting about twenty feet between the combatants.

One finally finishes charging up. He spins the staff around, and then swings it over his head and then back around towards Gale. A large ball of pure magic is released and races towards Gale.

Gale cancels his charging orb and holds Sin like a bat, with a smirk he crashes Sin into the orb, sending it back at One.

This was somehting One had not expected, but he was able to react accordingly anyway. He charged his staff for some extra boost, cocked back and swung forward. He bounced the sphere back with a little more power than before.

Gale raised an eyebrow at the tactic and swings Sin again, sending the orb back even faster than before.

One is beginning to get annoyed with this volley, he swings the staff and sends the ball back but this time, as it gets near Gale, One shoots out dozens of little magic balls, hoping to get the orb to explode near Gale.

Gale is unable to block the attack as it's detonated by the smaller blasts. He's flung backwards and slides across the ground. He flips to his feet, and spits some blood out of his mouth. "Hmph. Better than I thought." Gale turns Sin into a gun and fires at One.

One is not quick enough to deflect the bullets, he is caught in the stomach. This wasn't a small gash like the sword attack, this hit was dead on. One doubled over, kneeled to the ground and began coughing blood.

He coughs up more blood. He crawls over to Gale, right up to his shoe. He looks up at his sibling. "I thought you knew me better than that, Gale." He rises slowly, using Gale as support. When he gets fully upright, he leans on Gale's shoulder, so as to not fall. "Why don't you just stop? We've all done our share of suffering, I know what you're going through. You can end it, Gale." He coughs some more, sending a little bit of blood down to Gale's shoes.

Gale shakes his head. "You know it's too late for me to stop now, even if I wanted to."

"Eleison brother. . I know how you feel. I've felt the same way. Remember the war? Everyone fell into a depression after that. . . Even me. . " One stops leaning on Gale and moves back a little bit, getting a good look at his younger brother. "Time went on though. . . I made it through. I tried to help you, but you didn't want help. . You changed since then. Remember before the war? We were kids. We were young, haha, we were dumb. But remember? We had heart, Gale. . We were alive. . " One cups his wound. "It's sad what's been going on. . . Why can't you stop it? Jekin is dead, Gale. In pace requiescat You killed him. Don't you see what you did?"

Gale smiles. "The truth is, I haven't felt anything for a while now. It seems all of my feelings have been numbed. In the end, I just don't care anymore. I know what I did, but...I don't feel guilty. Perhapes, I am a monster." Gale chuckles, seemingly amused by the notion.

One smiles. He's not disturbed by what Gale said. He pulls out his staff and sticks it in the ground so it is standing upright in front of him. He begins to rub the top orb of the staff, while replying to Gale. "Men are full of words. But you're not man. Let's see how much of what you just said is true." One looks up staring into Gale's eyes, as if searching his soul. Gale, I stand before you, not as an enemy, but as a brother, an ally. Whatever the outcome, we are still brothers of the same." One raises his hand up, and a ball of magic appears in it. "Smile for me now." With those words being said, One moves his hand down and smashes the orb of his staff. The result is catastrophic. One, who is right in front of Shay's Staff, takes most of the blast. It sends him flying back like a rag doll about 20ft. When One lands on the ground, he is sprawled out, his eyes open, but with a blank expression. So it turned out that after 4,328 years, One Avalon's life finally came to an end.

Gale is shocked by the act, and is also thrown back. However, his older brother had taken most of the blow. In a daze Gale shakes his head and finally sees the destroyed Shay's Staff and the lifeless body of One. "One!! ...." For the first time since Laena's death, Gale felt the pain of guilt. Only moments ago was he ready to kill his own brother, but he didn't expect this. Unable to speak or act, Gale stares at body of his sibling in awe and shock.

Cloud walked out into the cool night air, the smell of death lingering with it. He had heard the commotion and suited up as fast as he could. He was holding his short barrel shotgun. He looked around to see One laying there, dead. Cloud then turned his attention to Gale and looked into his eyes coldly. Without saying a word he lifted the gun and fired the double barrel shotgun.

Gale scrambled to his feet and out of the way of the shotgun blast, he leveled Sin with Cloud's head and opened fire.
__ Hallon had heard the explosion and had tried to wake up everyone he could. He began suiting up, putting on his arm and belt. After a few more minutes of preperation, he makes his way toward the front door. __ Lara's fragile sleep had been shattered by the explosion of Shay's Staff. She scrambles awake and peers out her window, seeing the aftermath of the battle. Her eyes grew wide and she uttered a few curse words before heading out the door. |

Cloud ducked the shot just as Gale aimed the gun. He then stood back up and pointed the gun at Gale's face, all the same Sin pointed at his own head. He begins to speak. "What is all this for, anyways? Isn't the death of your brother and a fellow Abyss enough to put a halt to this rage?" He had been in situations with Mr. Onarav before, though this time Cloud was very uncertain he could rival his former partner. He didn't dare let the doubt show through, for fear of Gale gaining advantage.

"Do not speak of what you do not know." Gale's hand shoots out and forces Cloud's gun away from his face and kicks him in the stomach.

Cloud releases his gun as it hit and he grabs Gale's leg and pushes him off balance. As he does this he jumps back and unsheathes his Dread Buster. "I'll admit that I haven't been the most innocent of people... but you're going to pay for what you've done and what you're trying to do." With that he raises the enormous sword into the air and attempts to bring it down right between Gale's eyes.

Gale rolls backwards, barely avoiding the sword. "Don't be a self-righteous fool, Strife." Sin turns into a sword as Gale slashes at Cloud.

Cloud skillfully deflects the blow and returns it with a much heavier one. "You're at a loss, Gale..." Cloud's sword glows a faint green. "..so was I. There's second chances for everything. For Megiddo, for you, for your woman..." Cloud stifles a smirk, hoping to trick Gale into losing his train of thought.

Ayn hadn't been sleeping, but the sudden explosion startles her, and she tumbles off the couch she was lazing on. She fumbles around for her sword, and once she has it, she runs outside, nearly crashing into Lara. She regains her composure, only to nearly lose it again at the scene before her. Anger welled up inside of her, and her sword begins to glow. However, her feet were as heavy as lead and she remained rooted to the ground, probably for her own sake. Attacking now would be deadly.. even more deadly than it already has been.

Gale is caught by the blow and sent flying to the side. He snarls and smashes Sin into the ground, sending a shockwave toward Cloud.

Cloud snarls and jumps, avoiding the blast. As he comes down he attempts a braver, the orbs inside the sword glowing hotly.

Ayn mutters something, probably trying to convince herself not to go any further. Her breaths were heavy, as if she was drowning in air. She turns away, her entire body burning. Whatever it was she sensed last time she smelled death, this was a thousand times worse. She leans against the closest wall, starting to cough weakly.

The swords smash together and he forces Gale down to the ground. He glows a yellow aura and begins slashing away, trying to break through his defenses.

Gale tries to defend himself with Sin, but the sword isn't nearly as big as Cloud's and only manages to deflect of few of the blows, causing Gale to be hit by the others. He grunts and braces himself, withstanding the attack as best he can.

Rikali is jarred from her sleep. She crashes outside and sees the scene unfolding before her. Her eyes sweep the area and fall to rest on One. "No...it can't be true." Ignoring the danger, ignoring the pain in her body, ignoring Gale's prescene, she runs to One's fallen body. "One! One!" She cries to him, hoping against hope that he had clung to life. When he is unresponsive, Rikali lifts to the air, shrieking her grief and rage. Coming back to ground on the far side of the inn she enters the main body. The patrons stare at her. She stares back. "If I were you, I'd get out of here. There's a mad man ready to destroy you all outside." Rikali stands alone admist the rush for the door.
Riki stares at Hayate. "You said...that you want to end the life that you once had. You used to have a girlfriend, Hayate...what if you had one again?" The massive explosion sounds off before Hayate has a chance to answer. Riki jumps to her feet and runs out the door. "Come on, our friends might need us!" Admist all the chaos and death, Roselenna alone continues to slumber. |

Hayate looks somewaht surprised by Riki's comment, but any attempt to answer is cut off by a massive detonation. With a sigh, he picks up his sword and puts his coat on.
Never a dull moment, at least. |

Rikali jumps the stairs and lands on the bottom floor. She spies Rikali and races over to her. "What happened?"
"Gale. He's outside. Fighting Cloud." "What? Why aren't you out there helping?" "Do I look like I'd be a help? No." Riki starts towards the door. "Riki..." She turns back around. "One...he...died." Riki stares at Rikali, flabbergasted. She doesn't budge, but continues to stare at her. |

Hayate reaches the bottom just in time to hear Rikali's comment on One. He pauses for a moment on the stairs before continuing. What's going on behind those dull grey eyes, it's probably best not to enquire
It appears I was mistaken. There will be time to mourn later. If you feel you can't fight, try not to get killed out there. |
